The Employability Challenge
On Tuesday 6th December I made the 100 mile journey to Durham to attend the Education for Employability Conference with Gary Forrest (@garydforrest ) , Sue Barr organised by Lynda Dixon (@enterprisegran).
Topic of the conference: The employability challenge: equipping young people with the knowledge, skills and attributes to enter and thrive in the working world.
The following areas were covered:
- What do we mean by employability?
- Understanding the policy landscape
- The leadership challenge
- The curriculum challenge
- The employer challenge
- The partnership challenge
My tweets from the conference
@stephen_logan Just arrived in Durham for the employability conference.
Lots of very useful information so far and food for thought. #eccne
Employability the university view – curricular, co-curricular and extra curricular. #eccne
If we want young people to be employable we need them to understand themselves, their skills and qualities #eccne
Currently looking at the support we currently receive from employers. Have to say #hull is fantastic employers are always willing to help.
Overall a great insightful conference with lots of useful information and practice to taken away. The best part of the day was meeting people and having the opportunity to share ideas.
I would like to thank @enterprisegran for the excellent organisation, @garydforrest and Sue Barr.
Great enterprising and careers people who I highly recommended following:
